Pride House founder Dean Nelson will receive the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association’s Pioneer Award on 11 May at Voyage, the signature fundraising event for the IGLTA Foundation. Nelson, the CEO/Executive Producer of Whistler Pride & Ski Festival, created Pride House as a pavilion to celebrate diversity in sport and raise awareness of homophobia within sports at the Vancouver/Whistler 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Among the highlights of the 2018 show was a brand new LGBTQ Travel Pavilion, which showcased some of the latest trends in LGBTQ-centric tourism. The results from the 22nd annual LGBTQ Tourism and Hospitality Survey — conducted by San Francisco-based Community Marketing & Insights (CMI) — have been released. And the findings are surprising. On average, LGBTQ participants took 3.2 vacation or leisure trips and 1.4 business trips in the past 12 months. In addition, LGBTQs took an average of 2.3 trips primarily to visit family or friends in the past year.

Thanakarn (Bella) Vongvisitsin has been selected to attend the conference, considered to be the premier educational and networking event for the global LGBTQ tourism industry.
