Booking travel on mobile devices | ALBERTO CORRERA - QUADRI E DIRIGENTI TURISMO IN ITALIA | Scoop.it

From hotels to car rentals to holidays, the global travel industry is now worth trillions of dollars. In Australia alone, international and domestic tourists spent over $100 billion across the 2013-14 financial year and more than 13% of the total 2.1 million businesses in the country operate within the industry. But while Australians are more in love with travel than ever before, the way Australians travel is changing. More and more, consumers are heading online to plan and purchase holidays, and they're increasingly using their smartphones and tablets to do so. Criteo research shows that the share of travel bookings made using mobile devices in Australia has grown from 5.7% to 28.8% from January 2014 to January 2015. Whether its the convenience, flexibility or access to special discounts, the popularity of smartphones and tablets for bookings is growing rapidly and the travel industry should pay close attention.
