The Chinese outbound market is booming yet travellers still find low acceptance of their typical payment methods. As travel becomes more accessible to the Chinese lower and middle class, offering payment methods such as AliPay and WeChat Pay will be a definitive competitive advantage. China is one of the few countries where Western credit cards don't represent a major part of the payments landscape. The three leading payment options in China are Alipay, UnionPay and WeChat Pay. WeChat Pay alone has:

  • 200 million users making payments.
  • $1.2 trillion in transactions per year.
